With the General election polling day set for December 12th, local Liberal Democrats will be busy campaigning for our two Parliamentary Candidates, Jack Davies (New Forest West) and Bob Johnston (New Forest East).

Here is a profile of Bob Johnston:
A retired university lecturer and campaigner on pollution and the environment has been selected as Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the New Forest East constituency.

Bob Johnston, who lectured in biology at Oxford Brookes University, has wide political experience and is a long-standing member of both Oxfordshire County Council and Vale of White Horse District Council.

His special interests include air pollution, the Green Belt, climate change, transport and planning.

A widower, Bob enjoys travel and organic vegetable gardening.

He has one son who lives with his family in London.

“I will fight the upcoming General Election on national as well as local issues, with the emphasis on caring for the environment,”

Bob said. “For example, we really need to push for the reopening for passenger traffic of the Totton- Fawley rail line and continue campaigning against any further port development in Dibden Bay.

“On Brexit, I fully support my Party’s clear policy that if we Liberal Democrats form the next Government we will Stop Brexit immediately by revoking Article 50.”
