Don't let Hampshire County Council ruin our cobbles!
For as long as anybody can remember, shopkeepers have traded their wares on the cobbles - and have displayed items outside their shops. It's what helps to make this part of Lymington so special.
Now, because of one complaint from an anonymous member of the public, Hampshire County Council have given all shopkeepers until Friday 21st August to remove the items from outside their shops - or the County Council's contractors will remove them instead - and bill the shopkeepers for the privilege!
Yet New Forest District Council have agreed pavement licenses for cafes on Quay Hill to have tables outside their premises. How can it be acceptable for cafes but not for shops?
Local shopkeepers need our support.
Cllr Jack Davies and your local Liberal Democrats are fighting on behalf of shopkeepers. Will you sign our petition urging Hampshire County Council not to ruin our cobbles by forcing shops to remove their displays?
