Keep Lloyds Bank in Lymington High Street open
Lloyds Banking Group has announced plans to close 95 more branches across the UK - including the Lloyds branch on Lymington High Street. We, the undersigned, are calling on Lloyds to reconsider the closure of the Lymington branch and commit to keeping face-to-face banking services in our town.
For many residents in Lymington and the surrounding villages, particularly the elderly and those without reliable internet access, a physical bank branch isn't a luxury - it's a necessity. The loss of this branch would be a hammer blow to our local economy and a betrayal of the loyal customers who have supported Lloyds for decades.
Not only does this closure impact on elderly residents, it also impacts our local shopkeepers and self-employed business owners too. Our local businesses rely on the ability to deposit cash and access banking services in person.
Jack Davies and your local Lib Dem team are calling on the Chief Executive, Charlie Nunn, and the Lloyds Banking Group Board to:
- Reverse the decision to close the Lymington branch.
- Commit to a long-term presence on our High Street.
- Ensure face-to-face banking remains accessible to everyone in Lymington, Pennington, and surrounding villages.
A "hammer blow" to our High Street
Jack Davies says:
“The closure of the Lymington Lloyds branch would be a hammer blow to our High Street. Not everyone can (or wants) to bank online. For many of our elderly residents and local small businesses, having a physical bank where they can speak to a human being is a necessity, not a luxury.
"Whilst Lloyds reports massive profits, they are choosing to pull the rug out from under the very communities that have supported them for decades. The Liberal Democrats and I are calling on the Chief Executive, Charlie Nunn, to listen to the people of Lymington, Pennington, and the surrounding villages and reverse this decision.”
