Save Calshot Activities Centre!

As residents of the New Forest, we are deeply worried about Hampshire County Council's proposal to mothball the three hangars at Calshot Activities Centre or hand them to a third party.

Located on the Solent, Calshot is one of Britain’s largest activities centres, offering land and water-based activities from three historic hangars, alongside accommodation. The centre is used by more than 75,000 people a year - including many schoolchildren on residential trips who, otherwise, would not experience outdoor activities.

If the three hangars and recreational services at Calshot are mothballed as the County Council intend, and recreational activities scrapped, that would mean fewer, affordable, local options for outdoor activities. Many young children, especially locally, first experience outdoor activities through a residential school trip to Calshot.

The closure of the three hangars at Calshot means no velodrome, no climbing wall, and no dry ski slope.

Angela Pearson and the local Lib Dem team want to keep Calshot open for recreational activities . Will you sign our petition and help us keep Calshot Activities Centre serving local schoolchildren?

Save Calshot Activity Centre!

We, the undersigned, call on Hampshire County Council to keep the three hangars at Calshot Activities Centre open.
