Tell Hampshire County Council: Re-Open Solent Mead!
As residents of Lymington, Pennington and the surrounding villages, we are deeply disappointed about Hampshire County Council's decision to close Solent Mead, our local council-run care home in Lymington, last year. At the time, the Conservative administration in Winchester promised to build a new care home in the New Forest - but they lied and no such care home will be built.
The issue is personal to us because, with Solent Mead closed, vulnerable local residents have been left at the mercy of private care homes charging extortionate rates. The County Council is even spending thousands of pounds a week per patient paying private care homes to care for people who are eligible for council support. This decision to close Solent Mead doesn't work for residents and it doesn't work for the council.
Your local Liberal Democrats are fighting to re-open Solent Mead but we need to show the County Council that there is a large amount of public support for re-opening Solent Mead. Will you sign our petition calling on Hampshire Council to re-open Solent Mead Care Home in Lymington?
Join the fight to re-open Solent Mead Care Home!
Solent Mead Care Home was closed by Hampshire County Council in 2024. At the time, the County Council said they would build a new care home somewhere in the New Forest. They lied. They have now said they won't be building a new care home. Solent Mead sits empty when it could be providing vulnerable local people with the care they need close to home. The Liberal Democrats are fighting to get the County Council to re-open Solent Mead Care Home. Will you support our campaign?
