Last night the Liberal Democrats forced a vote in Parliament on an emergency cut to VAT. This would save the average family £600 a year. Sadly, the Conservatives voted against the tax cut.
New Forest West's MP was one of the Conservative MPs to vote against the tax cut proposed by the Liberal Democrats. #
Responding, Lib Dem Spokesperson for New Forest West, Cllr Jack Davies, said:
"The Conservatives are refusing to cut VAT, despite being forecast to cash in £39 billion in extra VAT receipts over the next 4 years due to soaring inflation.
"Cutting VAT would put money straight back into people's pockets, and the chancellor could do it at the stroke of a pen, so why isn't he?"
