David Millar
Lyndhurst and Fordingbridge's local champion
About David
David is standing to be the next County Councillor for Lyndhurst and Fordingbridge, including Cadnam and the northern New Forest area. He is keen to ensure greater representation for the towns and villages in his division, and to protect local services.
He currently serves on both New Forest District Council and Fordingbridge Town Council, having been elected in 2019, and is chair of the Finance Committee and a representative on the New Forest Association of Local Councils. Despite being new to politics, David has a strong track record of working hard and getting things done for local people.
David moved to the area with his family in 2008 and lives in Fordingbridge where he organises (and set up) the local weekly parkrun. He is passionate about making local councils work together for the benefit of our residents.
What is David fighting for?
Thriving Towns and Villages
Fighting to protect our rural way of life, opposing over-development, challenging unreasonable car parking charges and supporting our local shops and schools.
Better local transport
The lack of acceptable bus, cycle and walking routes push people away from local centres and increases reliance on cars. But our patched roads cannot cope and anti-social driving is common. We need a new, joined-up approach to rural transport which works for our residents needs.
Protecting our environment
It’s clear the water companies have had too easy a ride! Release of untreated sewage should be the rare exception, not the norm. Our local recycling centres remain under the threat of closure. We won’t stop the battle to keep them open.
Who can win in Lyndhurst and Fordingbridge?
It's Lib Dem or Conservatives here
The election of a new County Councillor for Lyndhurst and Fordingbridge will be a two-horse race between local Lib Dem David Millar and the Conservatives.
Support for the Lib Dems is on the rise across Lyndhurst and Fordingbridge. At the last local elections, the Lib Dems won 2 council seats from the Conservatives in Fordingbridge, Godshill and Hyde and won the council seat in Lyndhurst and Minstead.
More and more people, feeling let down by the Conservatives, are switching to back the Liberal Democrats in our area. A vote for any other party just helps the Conservatives.
